SAINT PETER, Minn. — Three Gustavus women's hockey players received recognition on the national stage from U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO), as
Katie McCoy,
Hailey Holland, and
Sophia Coltvet were all named to the 2023-24 USCHO team. All three players were named AHCA All-Americans two weeks earlier.
McCoy, who was named last season's USCHO National Goaltender of the Year, was named the sole goalie on the second team. McCoy claimed the NCAA Division III win and shutout records this season, helping the Gusties maintain the nation's premier defense. Gustavus lead Division III once more in team shutouts (11). In 26 games this season, McCoy allowed only 24 goals for a goals against average of 0.93, a save percentage of 0.946, 21 wins, and nine solo shutouts.
Holland, the MIAC Offensive Player of the Year, finished her Gustie career with her record third 30-point season. Holland tallied 19 goals and 11 assists, leading the team and the conference one final time. Her 141 career points put her third all-time in program history, and she's just the fourth player in Gustavus history to score 30 or more points in three seasons. Holland earned recognition on the USCHO Third Team.
Coltvet joined Holland on the USCHO Third Team after earning her first All-America honor as the team's top defender. Coltvet quarterbacked the Gustavus blue line, leading all defenders with 12 goals and five assists for 17 points in her final season. Coltvet managed a plus/minus rating of +21 over the season, and led the NCAA in a number of statistical categories. Coltvet scored a career-high seven goals on the power play, a mark that ranked second in the nation in the regular season. Her four game-winners were also tied for 11th.
River Falls' Maddie McCollins and Joe Cranston were named USCHO National Player and Coach of the Year, while Norwich's Livia Brooks was tabbed USCHO National Rookie of the Year. USCHO.com is recognized as the top news organization for college hockey coverage of all divisions and genders.
