SAINT PETER, Minn. — The American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) recently announced its eighth annual Krampade All-American Scholars with 20 student-athletes from the Gustavus women's and men's hockey teams receiving the academic honor.
Sophia Coltvet (Sr., Arden Hills) was also individually recognized, as she was one of six women and 13 total players on the list to achieve the academic status and also earn a spot on the CCM/AHCA All-America list for athletic performance.
Coltvet, who was named to the CCM/AHCA Second Team, graduated with a degree in biology with a 3.79 GPA. This is her second AHCA scholar honor, and she will finish her career as a two-time MIAC Academic All-Conference selection. She was also recognized as a USCHO Third Team All-American, MIAC All-Conference, a two-time MIAC Athlete of the Week, and served as a team captain this season. The Arden Hills native led all defenders in scoring with 12 goals and five assists for 17 points in her final year. Coltvet managed a plus/minus rating of +21 over the season, and scored a career-high seven goals on the power play, a mark that ranked second in the nation in the regular season. Her four game-winners were also tied for 11th in NCAA Division III.
Gustie Women's Hockey All-American Scholars
Margot Bettman (So., Chicago, Ill.), a philosophy and biology major with a 3.95 GPA, earned her second AHCA scholar honor for the Gusties in her sophomore season.
Avery Braunshausen (Fy., Lake Elmo), a management major with a 3.93 GPA, earned the first AHCA honor of her career in her first-year as a Gustie.
Sophia Coltvet (Sr., Arden Hills)
A biology major with a 3.96 GPA,
Hannah Gray (Jr., Stillwater) picked up her third consecutive AHCA recognition. Gray will also serve as a team captain for the 2024-25 season.
Emma Heyer (Fy., Shakopee) earned the first honor of her career after posting a 3.91 GPA.
Molly McHugh (5th, Minnetonka) earned her second consecutive AHCA scholar recognition. McHugh will be a four-time MIAC Academic All-Conference honoree when the conference announces its academic awards later this month.
Fifth-year
Emily Olson (Delano) was named an All-American Scholar for the third consecutive year, and will join McHugh as a four-time MIAC All-Conference honoree.
An exercise physiology major with a 3.91 GPA,
Brooke Power (Sr., Lakeville) earned the fourth AHCA scholar honor of her career.
Brooke Remington (Sr., Scandia) earned her first AHCA scholar recognition as a Gustie this season, but was previously named an AHCA Scholar All-American in 2020-21 while playing at Franklin Pierce.
Kayla Woytcke (So., Waconia) joins Braunshausen and Heyer as a first-time honoree this season.
Gustie Men's Hockey All-American Scholars
Stanislav Danaev (Sr., Moscow, Russia), a public accounting and computer science major with a 3.91 GPA earned his third honor after being named an AHCA scholar in 2023 and 2022.
Luke Delzer (Fy., Rogers),
Grant Ellings (Fy., Bloomington), and
Drew Holt (Fy., Eden Prairie) all received AHCA recognition following their rookie seasons for the Gusties.
A computer science major with a 3.75 GPA,
Kylar Fenton (Jr., Grafton, Wis.) picked up the honor for the second consecutive year.
Goaltender
Jackson Hjelle (Sr., Delano), who earned CSC Academic All-District last season, was named an AHCA scholar for the third time in his career.
Landon Johnson (Sr., Little Falls), a physics and mathematics major with a 3.8 GPA, graduates with two years of AHCA recognition after receiving the distinction last season as well.
Artem Korolev (Sr., Moscow, Russia), an economics major, earned the first honor of his career in his senior season.
Jack Kubitz (Sr., Wayzata), an economics, sociology, and anthropology major, and
Thomas Patterer (Sr., Klagenfurt, Austria) join Korolev as first-time honorees in their senior seasons.
To qualify, a student-athlete must have attained a 3.75 GPA for each semester, and had to appear in 40% of the team's games. Exceptions were granted to injured players and back-up goaltenders. The names of 945 Division II-III men (513) and women (432) were released Monday.
