AUSTIN, Texas - College Sports Communicators released the 2023-24 Women's At-Large Academic All-America Team for NCAA Division III on Tuesday and Gustavus women's hockey player Sophia Coltvet earned Third Team honors. Academic All-America Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Coltvet, who graduated in May with a major in biology and a 3.79 GPA, was recognized this past season as CCM/AHCA Second Team All-America, USCHO Third Team All-America, MIAC All-Conference, a two-time MIAC Athlete of the Week, and served as a team captain. The Arden Hills native led all defenders in scoring with 12 goals and five assists for 17 points in her final year. Coltvet managed a plus/minus rating of +21 over the season, and scored a career-high seven goals on the power play, a mark that ranked second in the nation in the regular season. Her four game-winners were also tied for 11th in NCAA Division III.

Coltvet helped the Gusties capture the past three consecutive MIAC regular season and playoff championships as well as the 2022-23 NCAA Division III national championship over Amherst College. 

Coltvet collects the Gustavus women's hockey program's 10th CSC Academic All-America accolade. Coltvet is also the fourth Gustie to earn Academic All-America this academic year and 136th in school history, marking the most in the MIAC and 13th most in Division III. Gustavus has the seventh most women's at-large selections among all divisions (43) and the third most in DIII. To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration as an ice hockey player, a student-athlete must have a 3.50 GPA, competed in 90 percent of the team's total games played or have started 66 percent of the team's total games, reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution, and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
