HASTINGS, Minn. – The Gustavus women's golf team currently sits in seventh after round one at the annual Gustie D3 Classic, played at Emerald Greens in Hastings. In a mostly MIAC field, Carleton is leading the way with a 15-over 303, while Bethel is two shots behind for second. The Gusties carded a round one 331.
Sophomore
Riley Zebroski (Watertown, S.D.) continues to lead the team through multiple tournaments, totaling a round one 78 (+6) for 12th overall. Zebroski carded a birdie on hole 17, and is five shots behind Carleton's Carter Sichol and Cynthia Lu in first.
Next for the Gusties is
Lauren Hubbart (Jr., Hastings) who posted a pair of birdies for a 10-over 82 to put her in 36th. First-year
Kenna Henriksen (Fy., Olivia) is in 49th behind Hubbart with a 13-over 85 and a pair of birdies as well.
Emily Kolb (Jr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) and
Maren Masters (So., Shakopee) are each tied for 52nd with a round one 86.
Individually,
Mary Kate Hewitt (So., Edina) is in 32nd with a nine-over 81, while
Jenna Piepkorn (Jr., Plymouth) is in 39th (83) and
Josie Raiche (So., Orono) shot a 92.
"We had a really good stretch at the beginning with most of our players, then lost some shots to the field on holes that played scoreboard today," said Head Coach
Scott Moe '95. "We just were not able to take advantage of those opportunities. Looking forward to another opportunity tomorrow, Emerald was in very good shape."
The Gusties continue their tournament tomorrow morning, teeing off at 7:30 a.m.
