ROME, Ga. – Gage Gohl,
Tyler Haddorff, and
Dominik Knutson of the Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis team are competing in the ITA Cup this week. The second day of the tournament on Friday was highlighted by Gohl winning his singles quarterfinals match to advance to the national semifinals.
Gohl earned a hard-fought 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 three-set victory over Ethan Green of Denison University in the quarterfinals. With the win, Gohl secured his spot in the semifinals.
The duo of Gohl and Haddorff also competed in the quarterfinals on Friday. The Gusties duo battled Jacob Linares and Nicholas Fischer of Hobart College, falling 6-3, 6-4.
Knutson competed in singles against Alexander Stage of Whitman College, falling 6-1, 6-0.
Up next is the third day of the ITA Cup on Saturday, October 18. In singles, Gohl will take on Advik Mareedu of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College with a chance to advance to the championship match and Knutson will battle Tarun Korwar of Hamilton College with both matches starting at 9:00 a.m. EST. In doubles, Gohl and Haddorff will face off against Ryan Battaglia and Ryan Gipner of the University of Mary Washington at 3:30 p.m. EST.
