COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – In the final invitational meet of the season, the Gustavus women traveled up to Collegeville for the Saint John's/Saint Benedict Fall Finale, finishing third overall in the 5000m competition. 

Saint Benedict and Division II school St. Cloud State topped the Gusties with total scores of 17 and 62, respectively, but Gustavus placed higher than Concordia-Moorhead.

First individually was Laura Sunnarborg (Jr., Minnetrista, Minn.) with a time of 20:10 to finish fourth overall, just 33 seconds behind the first finisher. The time of 20:10 is the best of the season for Sunnarborg, 17 seconds faster than her 5k performance at the Augustana Twilight meet. 

Finishing eighth overall and second for the Gusties was junior Eleanor Osmond (St. Paul, Minn.), setting a mark of 20:55. In the only other time running the 5k this year, Osmond ran a time of 21:01, meaning Osmond set a season best in the competition by six seconds. 

Finishing 22nd and scoring 17 was Piper Gushwa (Fy., St. Anthony Village, Minn.) with a time of 21:59 for the Gusties. Next up was Gabbie Boevers (Fy., Faribault, Minn.) with a time of 22:18 to finish in 26th for the Gusties and scoring 20. Amelia Dewberry scored 21 with a time of 22:22, finishing in 27th place overall. Wrapping up the scoring at 22 and 23 were Ali Keil (Fy., Savage, Minn.) and Vivian Hatlevig (Fy., Rochester, Minn.) with times of 22:27 and 22:30 respectively. 

Next Saturday, November 15th, the top seven competitors from the women's cross country team will travel to Colfax, Wisconsin for the NCAA North Regional Championships to attempt to qualify for the NCAA Championships in Spartansburg, South Carolina on November 22nd.
