MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The reigning MIAC Champions of Gustavus swimming and diving took to the conference meet Wednesday night, competing in the 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays, as well as the men's 1-meter diving preliminaries and finals. 

For the Gustie men, Ryan Lester (Sr., Hastings, Minn.) took sixth off the 1-meter, scoring a 383.25 in the finals. Lester posted a 372.90 in his prelims.

Matthew Lillejord (So., Naples, Fla.), Nyden Hill (Sr., Conway, Ark.), Peyton Richardson (5th, Crystal Lake, Ill.), and Logan Braley (Jr., Elk River, Minn.) collected a win in the 200 medley relay to start the Gustie men off in the pool, out-touching second-place Saint John's with a 1:31.17.

Richardson, Logan Cyr (So., Maple Grove, Minn.), Brendan Collins (So., Maple Grove, Minn.), and Braden Ripken (So., Blaine, Minn.) took second in the 800 freestyle relay, finishing in 6:52.35 behind SJU.

The women's 200 medley relay team of Eloise Cooper (Fy., Stevens Point, Wis.), Lindsay Sundby (Jr., Randolph, Minn.), Marit Isaacson (Sr., St. Paul, Minn.), and Stella Anderson Moye (So., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) kicked things off in the pool with a second place finish, touching the wall behind Macalester in 1:46.17. 

The 800 freestyle relay team meanwhile, claimed the Gusties' first title of the weekend, as Isaacson, Geneva Fackler (Fy., Plymouth, Minn.), Sommer Krause (Fy., Farmington, Minn.), and Anderson Moye finished in 7:42.47. 

After day one, Saint John's leads the men's field with 137 points, followed by the Gusties' 102, Carleton's 90, and Macalester's 75. The Gustie women and Macalester are tied for first with 74, while St. Olaf (62) is in thir, and St. Catherine (60) fourth. 

Day two of the championship meet kicks off with the 500 freestyle prelims at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, followed by finals at 6:30 p.m. in Minneapolis.
