INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NCAA announced the 14-team field for the 2025 Division III Men's Hockey Championships on Monday morning and Gustavus will travel to St. Norbert for a first round match up on Saturday.
The Gusties (16-9-2), who earned one of 10 automatic qualifier bids after winning the MIAC playoff championship, are ranked No. 31 in latest NPI rankings, while the Green Knights (23-5-1), who also earned an automatic qualifier after winning the NCHA playoffs, are ranked No. 5. The winner between Gustavus and St. Norbert will face the winner of Utica and Fitchburg State.
Gustavus is making its seventh appearance at the NCAA Championships and first since 2012, while St. Norbert is making its 22nd NCAA appearance and has won the national title four times.
Curry (24-3-0) and Hobart (26-1-1) received first round byes as the top two seeds in the tournament. Hobart is the two-time defending champion after defeating Trinity last year. Five other first round games will also take place on Saturday. Quarterfinal games are set for March 22, while the Frozen Four will take place March 28 and 30.
The championship field consists of 10 automatic qualifiers and 4 at-large berths.
