SAINT PETER, Minn. - In the first home matches after returning from its spring break trip, No. 14 Gustavus men's tennis delivered two dominant performances, defeating Hamline 9-0 and Luther 7-0. The Gusties improve to 6-7 overall and are now 3-0 in the MIAC.Â

Gustavus started the day off strong, with No. 2 doubles
Owen Skanse and
Noah Hakim winning their match 8-3, and No. 3 doubles
Takura Mhwandagara and
Ali Derbani winning 8-5. No. 1 doubles,
Rafael de Camargo Costa and
Luke Fridinger earned the final doubles point by winning the tiebreaker 7-4.

The Gusties refused to slow down in singles play, winning all six singles points to sweep Hamline. Costa led the way at the No. 1 spot, winning his match 6-3, 6-2. No. 2 singles
Taona Mhwandagara won by opponent retirement after going up 5-0 in the first set.

Playing for one point in doubles in the non-conference match, the Gusties earned the point with victories at Nos. 2 and 3 as
Marco Siviero and
Dominik Knutson won 6-1 at No. 2 and
Taona Mhwandagara Josh Christensen won 6-2 at No. 3.Â
The Gusties then swept singles play with five straight-set victories. Christensen battled into the third set at No. 3 and won the breaker 10-8.Â
Gustavus travels to Boston, Mass. next weekend for matches against MIT and Tufts.Â
