SAINT PETER, Minn. - No. 20/22 Gustavus baseball earned a MIAC sweep over Hamline on Tuesday, improving to 23-6 overall and 9-2 in the MIAC. The Gusties won game one 8-1 behind a career-day for
Adam Biewen and then picked up a 7-3 win in game two.Â

Biewen was the story of game one as the fifth-year senior struck out a career-high 14 batters in a three-hit, complete game victory, improving to 3-0 on the season.

The Gusties got the bats going right away in the first inning.
Chris Knowles reached on a fielder's choice,
Luke Siegle doubled to right center, and both scored on a double to left by
Drake Siens. The home squad went ahead 3-0 in the second as
Ross Hebel singled to center and later scored on an error by the catcher.

After three scoreless frames, the Gusties put the game out of reach in the fifth with five runs on four hits. Siens,
Brady Schmitz,
Joe Burns, and
Sam Schneider each had an RBI in the inning.

The Pipers tallied their lone run of the game in the seventh after a walk, defensive indifference to advance to second, and an RBI single to right, but Biewen closed out the game with his 14th strikeout.

Siens (2-3, R, 3 RBI, 2B) and Hebel (2-3, R) paced the offense.

Gustavus got out to a quick start again, scoring three runs in the first inning.
Brayden Kohls hit a one-out single and came home on a base hit by
Luke Siegle. Knowles, who reached on a walk, scored with Siegle on a single by Siens.

The second and third went scoreless before the Pipers took advantage of a couple fielding errors along with a pair of hits in the fourth to tie the game 3-3, but the home team answered immediately as
Isaac Becker hit a leadoff homer in the bottom half.

The Gusties went up 5-3 in the fifth with a two-out rally. Siegle hit a ground-rule double over the right field fence and scored on a base hit by Siens.

Brevin Goetz exited the game after six innings on the mound. He allowed one earned run on six hits with five strikeouts to earn his second win of the season.

Gustavus added two insurance runs in the eighth with RBIs from Hebel and Gavin.
Michael Prosch tossed the final three frames to earn his first save. Prosched did not allow a run with two hits and a strikeout.

Siens (3-3, 3 RBI, HBP) and Becker (3-4, R, RBI, HR) led the Gusties at the dish.
