NORTHFIELD, Minn. - In a matchup of ranked MIAC men's tennis opponents Saturday, No. 30 Gustavus defeated No. 41 Carleton 7-2. The Gusties improve to 15-11 overall and 7-0 in the MIAC, while the Knights drop to 14-3 overall and 6-1 in the league.Â
The Gusties started the matchup of previously undefeated MIAC teams with a clean sweep in doubles.
Gage Gohl and
Tyler Haddorff started with an 8-1 win at the top spot, followed by an 8-4 win at No. 3 by
Taona Mhwandagara and
Josh Christensen, and an 8-5 win at No. 2 by
Dominik Knutson and
Marco Siviero.Â
Knutson then led off singles play with a 6-2, 2-6, 10-6 win at No. 4 and Haddorff followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 5 to secure the win for Gustavus. Gohl ensued with a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 1 and Siviero won 6-3, 2-6, 10-6 at No. 2 for a 7-0 lead. The Knights then won at Nos. 3 and 6 for their two points.Â
The Gusties close out the regular season next Saturday with MIAC matches at Bethel and St. Scholastica.Â
