SAINT PETER, Minn. – Gustavus junior
Gage Gohl (Sioux Falls, S.D./Lincoln) and senior
Marco Siviero (Sao Miguel de Oeste, Brazil/Goliath Academy) were awarded College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America honors on Wednesday, June 4.
Gohl was named to the first team, while Siviero collected third-team honors, and his second Academic All-America award of his career.
Academic All-District and Academic All-America nominees must be of a sophomore academic standing or better, with a 3.50 GPA or higher. The Academic All-District and All-America teams are voted on and selected by registered members of CSC.
Gohl, a communication studies and sport management double major with a 3.97 GPA, earned his first Academic All-America honor as a member of the six-player first-team. Gohl was named the winner of the MIAC's Elite 22 Award on May 20, given to the individual with the highest cumulative GPA among student-athletes who competed in the five-team MIAC Playoffs.
Gohl amassed numerous accolades in his junior season, beginning with Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-America honors in the fall as the winner of the Midwest Regional Singles Championship, which he has now claimed in each of the last two years. The All-America honor was his fourth overall, after sweeping the 2023 ITA Midwest competition and winning the 2024 NCAA Doubles National Championship alongside partner
Tyler Haddorff (Burnsvile, Minn.).
He was additionally selected as one half of the MIAC Doubles Team of the Year for the second consecutive season after going 18-9 with Haddorff and undefeated in conference play. Gohl and Haddorff played all 21 of their dual matches at No. 1 with a record of 14-7. Gohl earned All-MIAC Doubles honors and Honorable Mention in singles play and was three times named the Athlete of the Week this season. He was 19-9 in singles play (11-7 dual), ending the season on a four-match win streak in dual play.
A management and communication studies with a 3.87 GPA, Siviero garners his second CSC Academic All-America selection after being honored as a member of the 2024 second team. The 2025 Arthur Ashe Award winner at both the MIAC and regional level, Siviero concluded his career as a three-time All-American on the court, twice from the ITA in doubles play and once last season as a result of the NCAA Individual Singles tournament.
The Arthur Ashe Award annually recognizes a senior men's tennis student-athlete who exhibits outstanding sportsmanship and exemplary athletic, academic, and humanitarian accomplishments. Siviero was also named to the All-MIAC Doubles Team and honorable mention singles in addition to a MIAC Athlete of the Week honor early in the season.
Siviero went 15-13 overall in singles play this season and a perfect 4-0 in conference play. He was 10-9 in the dual schedule, spending most of his time as the Gusties' No. 1. In doubles play, Siviero compiled 20 wins this season – tied for most of any Gustie athlete – with a 20-11 overall record. He was 13-9 in the dual schedule and 7-2 in tournaments, in addition to a perfect 5-0 record in the conference season. Siviero and
Dominik Knutson (Dvur Kralove nad Labem, Czech Republic/SPOS) combined for an 11-5 overall record, winning eight of their last 10 matches together, while he and
Josh Christensen (Rochester, Minn./Century) went 9-6, mostly in tournament play.
Gustavus has now had nine men's tennis Academic All-Americans over the last seven seasons and 16 overall. This is the second season the Gusties have had more than one selection, and Siviero is the fifth men's tennis player to earn more than one Academic All-America honor:
