SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis team is hosting the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championship this weekend. After Saturday's matches, four Gusties advanced to the singles quarterfinals and three Gustavus duos are on to the doubles quarterfinals.
Singles
Gage Gohl,
Takura Mhwandagara,
Dominik Knutson, and
Tyler Haddorff all won both of their matches on Saturday to punch tickets to the quarterfinals.
Gohl defeated Hayden Latus of Concordia Wisconsin 6-3, 6-2 in the Round of 32 and then swept Joshue Tiemann of Coe 6-0, 6-0 in the Round of 16.
Mhwandagara took down Juan Hernandez Herrera of Luther 7-6, 6-3 and then Mateo Torre of St. Scholastica 6-1, 6-2.
Knutson won 6-0, 6-3 over Aiden Meixl of UW-La Crosse and 6-1, 6-2 against Garvin Murray of Grinnell.
Haddorff took a 6-1, 6-1 win over Henry Park of Grinnell and then a 6-3, 6-1 versus William Reichen of Lawrence.
Doubles
The Gustie teams of Gohl and Haddorff,
Noah Hakim and
Owen Skanse, and Knutson and Mhwandagara each advanced to the quarterfinals.
Gohl/Haddorff won 8-3 over Satav/Punjabi of Grinnell and then 8-4 against Burt Smith/Rohlman of Coe.
Hakim/Skanse took an 8-6 victory against Willett/Murray of Grinnell and then defeated Kotz/Slaymaker 8-3.
Knutson/Mhwandagara took down Doig/Schulte of Coe 8-3 and then Hernandez/Althaus of Luther 8-4.
