BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Jake Schmitt of the No. 14 nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus College men's basketball team has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Schmitt averaged 23.0 ppg with a 56% (10-for-18) clip from three-point range to lead No. 14 Gustavus to two wins as the Gusties improved to 15-1 and extended their win streak to 13 games. Schmitt had 24 points, five rebounds, and four assists in the 82-77 overtime win at Concordia and then scored 22 points on 67% (8-for-12) from the field and 75% (6-for-8) from beyond the arc in the 95-62 victory over Macalester.
This is the second time this season Schmitt has earned a MIAC Player of the Week award, having previously earned the award on
December 15.
Up next for the Gusties is a road trip up to Duluth for a conference contest as they take on the College of St. Scholastica Saints on Saturday, January 17 at 3:00 p.m.
