SAINT PETER, Minn. – The No. 23 nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis team is hosting and competing in the 2026 ITA DIII Men's Midwest Regional Championships this weekend. In the first day of competition on Friday, eight Gusties in singles and four Gustavus doubles teams moved on to the Round of 32 of the main draws.
Singles Draw
Dominik Knutson, who was the regional singles runner-up last year, moved to the second round with a bye and then defeated Aman Kothari of Grinnell 6-1, 6-3 to move on to compete in the next round of the main draw on Saturday.
Rafael Silva Jose De Carvalho began the tournament with a 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-4) win over Carson Haack of Northwestern. He then took down Luke Blumentritt of UW-Whitewater 6-4, 6-1 in the Round of 64.
Noah Hakim moved past the opening round with a bye and then earned a 6-3, 7-6 win over Ezekiel Viteri of Wartburg in round two.
Ethan Ellor won a hard-fought 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (11-9) win over Ethan Foucheaux of Carthage in his first match and then followed that up with a 6-2, 6-3 win against Wyatt Crowell of Hamline.
Christopher Dencker had a first-round bye but then took down Murilo Zeni of Concordia Wisconsin 6-5, 6-1 to move to the Round of 32.
Quinn Monson won 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5) in the Round of 64 followed an opening round bye to advance to Saturday in the main draw.
Yash Bahalkar defeated Jumpei Kasai of Coe 6-2, 6-1 before then cruising to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Ethan Hoffmann of UW-Whitewater.
Christian Wong had a bye in the first round and then won a 6-7, 6-0, 1-0 (10-6) battle against Yash Chhabra of UW-Superior.
Doubles Draw
Knutson and
Takura Mhwandagara lead the way as the No. 1 seed in the doubles main draw. The duo faced Carson Haack and Sam Majerus of Northwestern on Friday, taking an 8-2 victory to move on to Saturday's matches.
Bahalkar and Dencker teamed up to defeat Dane Patten and Danny Torres of St. Scholastica 8-5 to move on to the next round.
Owen Skanse and Hakim moved on to the Round of 32 with an 8-4 win over Trent Devore and Trace Turner of Cornell.
Ellor and Wong were victorious in their round one match against Kaan McDonald and Tavin Lee of Grinnell, taking the match 8-2.
