MINNEAPOLIS - The Gustavus Adolphus College women's swimming and diving team competed in the MIAC Championship this past week, battling the other eight conference teams at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on the University of Minnesota campus.
After four days of competition, the Gusties emerged victorious as MIAC Champions, earning 788 points to clinch their third MIAC championship in a row. The title win is the 13th in program history for the Gusties. St. Olaf followed Gustavus as the runner-up with 631.5 points. Carleton rounded out the top three with a score of 576.5.
Saturday
Annika Beck won the 1650 freestyle for the Gusties. The first year swam the race in 17:37.69 win the gold.
The 400 freestyle relay team of
Caitlyn Otto,
Stella Anderson Moye,
Leah Felton, and
Katelyn Siers took first place in their race. The Gusties' squad won the event with a time of 3:31.34.
In the 100 freestyle, Felton (52.41) and Otto (52.45) finished back to back in second the third place overall for Gustavus
Siers led the Gusties in the 200 backstroke, placing third overall with a time of 2:05.99.
Madison Witte finished in the top three in the 200 butterfly, finishing in 2:09.86.
Hadley Wartner had the top time for Gustavus in the 200 breaststroke, placing sixth with a time of 2:27.85.
Gabriella Stoudt placed seventh in the three-meter dive, posting a score of 386.50.
Friday
Annika Beck placed second in the 400 IM for Gustavus, swimming the race in 4:35.46 to set a new personal record.
Geneva Fackler was the runner-up in the 200 freestyle, leading the Gusties with a time of 1:55.05.
Katelyn Siers took second place in the 100 backstroke, finishing in 56.63. The mark set a new PR for the Gustavus sophomore, besting her time of 57.03 at last year's championship.
The Gusties' 200 freestyle relay team finished as the runner-up in the championship race. The squad of
Joely Anderson,
Leah Felton, Fackler, and Siers combined to swim the race in 1:35.84 to set a new top time this season for Gustavus.
Madison Witte led the Gusties in the 100 butterfly, placing fourth with a time of 58.65.
Hadley Wartner finished in the top-five overall for Gustavus in the 100 breaststroke, swimming the race in 1:07.53.
Thursday
Annika Beck led Gustavus on day two with a first-place finish in the 500 yard freestyle. The first year won the race with a time of 5:06.82, surpassing her previous personal record and top-MIAC time this season of 5:12.53.
Katelyn Siers led the Gusties in the 50 yard freestyle. The sophomore placed third with a time of 24.09, which beat her previous personal record by 0.10 seconds.
Madison Witte had the top Gustavus finish in the 200 yard IM, placing fourth with a time of 2:12.15.
The 400 yard medley relay team of
Geneva Fackler,
Lindsay Sundby, Witte, and
Stella Anderson Moye took fourth in the race, finishing in 3:55.82.
Gabriella Stoudt placed eighth in the one-meter dive, scoring 340.05.
Wednesday
The team of
Geneva Fackler,
Caitlyn Otto,
Leah Felton, and
Stella Anderson Moye won the 800 freestyle relay for Gustavus with a time of 7:43.68. The Gusties bested runner-up Macalester in the race by 0.96 seconds. Gustavus entered the championship meet with the second-best MIAC time in the event at 7:56.13, trailing St. Olaf at 7:54.44. Their first-place finish at the championship set a new top time for the conference this season in the relay.
The Gusties took fourth place in the 200 medley relay. The team of

Leah Felton swam the relay in 1:46.37, besting the previous top Gustavus time this season by 2.20 seconds.
