ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College men's hockey team battled the Hamline University Pipers on the road Saturday night in their regular season finale. The Gusties shut out the Pipers while Kyle Doll recorded the first hat trick of the season for Gustavus in a 5-0 victory.

The win secured the No. 2 seed in the MIAC Playoffs for the Gusties, who finished the regular season 12-4 in the conference and 17-7-1 overall.

Jack Anderson scored the game-winner for Gustavus just one minute and 28 seconds into the game. The junior defender found the back of the net to put the Gusties up 1-0, assisted by Nate Stone and Hunter Newhouse.

Doll scored the first of his three back-to-back-to-back goals on the night late in the opening period, doubling the lead for Gustavus with Gregor Jennersjo assisting. After a scoreless second period, the first year forward scored again less than five minutes into the third frame, assisted by Sam Rice and Emil Samuelsson. Doll completed his hat trick in the 11th minute of the final period, scoring his eighth goal of the season with Riku Brown and Rice notching assists.

Two minutes after Doll completed his hat trick, Anderson scored once more to put the Gusties up 5-0 with Ludvig Mellgren assisting on the goal. With the two-goal game, Anderson upped his season total to five.

Marko Belak recorded his second shutout of the season in the win, saving 22 shots on goal while allowing none to pass him by.
