GREENWOOD, Ind. – The No. 7 nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus College men's basketball team had four student-athletes earn College Sports Communicators (CSC) NCAA Division III Academic All-District awards, the organization formerly known as CoSIDA announced on Tuesday.
Connor Beauchamp,
Jake Schmitt,
Carson Koch, and
Eli Wolff all earned Academic All-District honors.
CSC Basketball Academic All-District award winners must have a cumulative GPA above 3.50 and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. Student-athletes must also compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games.
Beauchamp is a Business Management major with a 3.972 GPA. The senior played in all 30 games this season, coming off the bench to shoot 46.5% from the floor and 36.1% from three-point range while averaging 5.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.
Schmitt is a Public Accounting major with a 3.865 GPA. The junior led the Gusties from beyond the arc this season, setting the program record for most three-point field goals in a season with 86 on 35.0% shooting. Overall, Schmitt averaged 14.8 points per game on 38.1% shooting.
Koch is a Public Accounting major with a 3.731 GPA. The senior led Gustavus with 121 rebounds, averaging 6.3 per game. Koch shot 43.5% from the floor and 35.2% from long range, averaging 5.8 points per game.
Wolff is a Health & Physical Education Teaching major with a 3.656 GPA. The senior averaged 9.7 points per game while shooting 42.6% from the field and 42.9% from beyond the arc. Wolff's 75 three-point baskets this winter are the fourth-most in a single season in program history.
The Gusties had a 27-3 record this past season, going 15-1 in the conference to repeat as MIAC Regular Season Champions and went on to win the MIAC Playoff Championship. In the NCAA Tournament, Gustavus advanced all the way to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2003.
