Box Score 2 SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The No. 16 nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis team battled the Hamline University Pipers and the Saint Mary's University Cardinals on the road Saturday. The Gusties took down the Pipers 6-1 and swept the Cardinals 7-0 to move to 12-5 overall and remain undefeated in the MIAC at 6-0.
Match One: Hamline
Gage Gohl and
Tyler Haddorff earned the first win of the day for Gustavus, taking #1 doubles 6-1.
Dominik Knutson and
Takura Mhwandagara followed with a 6-3 win at #2 doubles to secure the doubles team point for the Gusties.
Noah Hakim and
Owen Skanse closed out doubles with a 6-2 win at the #3 match.
Skanse earned the second point of the match for Gustavus with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of #5 singles.
Aadityaa Juniwal followed with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at #6 singles, putting the Gusties up 3-0. Haddorff secured the team win for Gustavus, earning the fourth team point with a 6-0, 6-1 win at #2 singles.
Mhwandagara won #3 singles 6-2, 6-1 to put the Gusties up 5-0. The Pipers took #1 singles for their lone team point, then Hakim closed out the match with a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4) victory at #4 singles as Gustavus won 6-1.
Match Two: Saint Mary's
Deuce Daniel and
Luke Fridinger swept #1 doubles 6-0 to open the match against the Cardinals.
Yash Bahalkar and
Ali Derbani clinched the doubles team point for the Gusties with a 6-1 win at the #2 match.
Quinn Monson and
Joseph Li wrapped up doubles with a 6-1 victory at #3.
Monson won #3 singles to put Gustavus up 2-0. Bahalkar followed with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of #4 singles to give the Gusties a 3-0 lead. Fridinger secured the team victory for Gustavus with a 6-2, 6-0 win at #2 singles, going up 4-0.
Derbani took #6 singles 6-1, 6-0 to give the Gusties a 5-0 lead. Joseph followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win at #5 singles to put Gustavus up 6-0. Deuce completed the 7-0 sweep for the Gusties with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at #1 singles.
