Box Score TUCSON, Ariz. - Gustavus baseball lost their first game of the season on Friday night, dropping game one of two to La Verne, 18-4. The Gusties only gave up 10 hits, but had four errors and walked 13 batters.
After singling to center field, junior

Isaac Becker drove home the run, marking his third RBI of the season. After the top of the first, things turned for the worse for Gustavus, giving up eight runs in the first and second inning, digging themselves a hole.
The Gusties got one back in the top of the fourth, with junior Isaish Hasz (Pine City, Minn.) firing a single to the shortstop which brought home sophomore
Charles Gearen (Minneapolis, Minn.) to cut the lead to six. The Leopards exploded in the bottom of the fifth, scoring 10 runs to define the outcome. Gustavus scored two more in the top of the sixth, with Hasz and junior
Andrew Glovich (Sioux Falls, S.D.) both touching home, which would prove to be the final runs as the team lost, 18-4.
The team plays again in Tucson tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. Central Time, 10:00 a.m. Mountain Time, hoping for a better outcome in the second of two games against the La Verne Leopards.
