MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Division I and II competition brought the best out of the Gusties at the Gary Wilson Invitational, particularly Jade Anstine and Kyler Flunker, who both set school records and sit in the top 20 nationally in their respective events.

On the track for the men, junior Nicholas Brauer (Mankato, Minn.) got the day going bright and early, finishing seventh in the 1500-meter with a season-best 3:57.80. Next up was junior Jade Anstine (Sioux Falls, S.D.) in the open 100-meter, finishing in 13th in a loaded field. Anstine represented himself and Gustavus well, running a 10.47 for a new No. 16 mark in Division III while setting the school record. In the 400-meter hurdles, sophomore Landon Gilbertson (Fairmont, Minn.) had a personal-best, crossing the finish line in 57.46, 0.51 faster than his previous best.

As for the women on the track, first-year Addison Enfield (Northfield, Minn.) won the women's 1500-meter, beating Division I and Division II competition with a personal-best 4:56.42. Sophomore Laura Thauvin then finished 21st in the 100-meter hurdles, running a 15.07 for the 75th best time in Division III this season and a season best. The only competitor for the Gusties in the 800-meter was first-year Katja Wallin (Arden Hills, Minn.), who ran a personal-best as well, crossing in 2:22.95.

In the field on the men's side, sophomore Kyler Flunker (Mankato, Minn.) tied the Gustavus school record and the No. 14 mark in Division III, crossing over 2.05 meters, which translates to just under six feet, nine inches. Flunker was the best competitor in the competition representing a school, losing to three unattached jumpers, but beating multiple Division I and II opponents.

For the women, sophomore Bella Sutch (Blaine, Minn.) led the group in the shot put, finishing 18th with a 12.04m heave. Ending the meet for the Gusties in the field was junior Anna Lacy (Silver Lake, Minn.), who made finals in the javelin throw with a best throw of 37.47 meters to get sixth.

Anstine topped Ryan Hoag's record in the 100-meter, which was set in 2002 at 10.51. As for Flunker, he tied the school record, set by Taylor Rooney in 2021.

After a day off, the Gusties will get back to work on Friday, splitting up at the Drake Relays and Rider/Bolstroff Invitational.
