SAINT PETER, Minn. – Under clear skies and ideal conditions, Gustavus track and field made the most of its home meet at the Gustie Twilight, combining for 57 personal and season bests across a full evening of competition.
The women's track and field team wasted no time getting started, as the 4x100 relay team of
Abby Groen,
Sophia Vogel,
Adi Bye, and
Ava Loftness took first place in 49.80 to open the meet.
On the track,
Allison Stacy led the way in the sprints with a third place finish in the 100m (12.68) while Vogel added to her strong day with a third place finish in the 400H, clocking 1:04.54.
In the 800m,
Addison Enfield raced to a first place finish in 2:25.23, while Elly Soli surged to third in 2:30.63.
Ali Keil and
Vivian Hatlevig went one two in the 5000m with times of 21:21.77 and 21:46.53.
In the field,
Kayla Kajer cleared 1.55m to win the high jump, while Loftness placed second in the triple jump (11.55m).
Anna Lacy secured first in the javelin with a throw of 37.67m.
The throws group also delivered, with
Bella Sutch winning the shot put (13.03m), a mark that ranks No. 29 in Division III, and
Morgan Akason placing third (12.09m). Becca Hoffman added a third place finish in the hammer throw (43.22m).
The discus squad impressed as well, with
Keira McCord and Sutch getting first and second with throws of 40.98m and 40.95m, both being personal bests.Â
The women's pole vault squad dominated, sweeping the podium as
Camille Finney led the way at 3.25m, followed by
Kate Clairmont and
Autumn Schmidt, both clearing 3.10m.
On the men's side,
Jade Anstine delivered a dominant sprint double, winning the 100m (10.86) and 200m (21.94).
Nick Brauer gapped the competition in the 1500m with a time of 3:59.97, managing to lap at least one athlete.
Finnegan Rodefeld followed up this performance with a second place finish of 4:22.32.
In the 400m,
Conner Martens had an incredible outdoor debut, clocking 49.14, good for third.
The 800m featured a strong showing from
Camden Cilek, who surged to a first place finish in 2:00.91, an eight second personal best.
Hogan Smith followed closely behind in third (2:01.52).
In the 5000m,
Caden Riga placed third with a time of 16:05.09.
The men's 4x200 relay team of
Luke Scheel,
Amos Anderson,
Conner Martens, and
Anikan Larson had a strong first place finish in 1:29.99.
In the field events,
Wyatt Hudspith won the discus with a throw of 45.76m, while
Carter Will placed second in the hammer (45.76m).
Logan Day added a third-place finish in the javelin (50.59m).
The pole vault group matched the women's success, sweeping the podium as
Alex Palmer,
Joe Ream, and
Connor McCormick each cleared 4.10m.
For the first time in program history, Gustavus competed in the mixed outdoor 4x400 relay. The team of
Nick Brauer, Elly Soli,
Finnegan Rodefeld, and
Katja Wallin placed third in a tight race, setting the school record in the event.
Gustavus returns to action on Wednesday, April 22, sending a small group to the University of Minnesota Invite in Minneapolis.
