SAINT PETER, Minn. – The No. 24 nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis team battled the College of St. Scholastica Saints on Saturday afternoon in their regular season finale. The Gusties swept the Saints 7-0 to clinch their 56
th overall and 37
th consecutive MIAC Regular Season Championship after a perfect 9-0 season in conference play.
With another undefeated MIAC season, the Gusties have improved their all-time record in conference regular season games to 595-3. Gustavus has only lost three of their 598 MIAC regular season games in their program's history: two in 1966 and one in 1985.
In Saturday's championship-clinching match,
Noah Hakim and
Owen Skanse began the day with a 6-2 victory at #3 doubles.
Tyler Haddorff and
Luke Fridinger followed with a 6-2 win at #2 doubles, securing the first team point of the match for the Gusties.
Dominik Knutson and
Takura Mhwandagara added a 6-2 win at #1 doubles.
Knutson swept #1 singles 6-0, 6-0 for the second Gustavus team point.
Quinn Monson then swept #6 singles to take a third point for the Gusties. Mhwandagara clinched the team victory by nearly sweeping #4 singles 6-1, 6-0.
Hakim won #5 singles 6-1, 6-1 to take a fifth point for Gustavus. Haddorff followed with a sixth point after a 6-2, 6-2 victory at #2 singles. Fridinger completed the 7-0 team sweep for the Gusties with a 6-2, 6-3 win at #3 singles.
Up next for Gustavus is the 2026 MIAC Men's Tennis Playoffs beginning next week. The Gusties, having earned the No. 1 seed in the postseason, will have a bye through Wednesday's quarterfinals and prepare to take on the lowest-remaining seed on Friday, May 1 in the semifinals at home at the Wilkinson Tennis Complex. The semifinal winners will advance to the championship match to be played on Saturday, May 2 at the home court of the highest remaining seed.
