SAINT PETER, Minn. – The No. 23 nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus College men's tennis team battled the Bethel University Royals on Friday at the Wilkinson Tennis Complex in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Playoff Semifinals. The Gusties secured a 4-0 sweep of the Royals to move to 18-9 overall and punch their ticket to the conference postseason championship match.
Noah Hakim and
Owen Skanse gave Gustavus half of the doubles wins they would need to earn the team point with a 6-4 victory at #3 doubles.
Tyler Haddorff and
Luke Fridinger followed with a 7-5 win at #2 doubles to earn the first team point for the Gusties.
Quinn Monson got Gustavus off to a strong start in singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win at #6 singles.
Deuce Daniel brought the Gusties near the finish line with a 6-2, 6-4 win at #4 singles. Haddorff clinched the match and Gustavus' ticket to the title match with a 6-1, 6-3 win at #3 singles, securing the fourth team point of the 4-0 semifinal victory for the Gusties.
Up next for the Gusties is the MIAC Playoff Championship which they will host on Saturday, May 2 at 3:30 p.m. against the Carleton College Knights at the Wilkinson Tennis Complex.
