Final Four! No. 23 Men’s Tennis’ Gohl, Haddorff Win 6-2, 6-3 in Elite Eight to Advance to NCAA Doubles Championship Semifinals

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Gage Gohl and Tyler Haddorff of the No. 23 nationally ranked Gustavus men's tennis team competed in the doubles quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships on Sunday. Gohl and Haddorff, the 2024 doubles national champions, won their Elite Eight match 6-2, 6-3, punching their ticket to the national semifinals to set up a Final Four showdown on Monday.
 
No. 12 nationally ranked doubles duo of Gohl and Haddorff faced off against No. 6 Trey Lambright and Bryce Ware of Case Western Reserve in the quarterfinals. The Gustie duo trailed 2-1 on serve early in the opening set, but then won five games in a row to take set one 6-2.
 
In the second set, the Gustavus pair broke the Spartans in the fifth game to go up 3-2. With a 5-3 lead later in the set, the Gusties again broke the CWRU to win the set 6-4 and take the match.
 
Gohl and Haddorff never had their serve broken in the national quarterfinal victory.
 
With the win, the top Gustie doubles team improved to 29-5 this year with a 13-1 mark in tournament matches.
 
Up next for the Gusties is the national doubles semifinals. No. 12 Gohl and Haddorff will battle No. 9 Trevor Rein and Asher Willinborg of Mary Washington in the Final Four on Monday, May 25. The time is currently set for 9:00 a.m. CT to be played at the outdoor courts, weather permitting.

The winner of Monday's Final Four match will move on to face the winning duo from the other semifinal, No. 3 Ethan Green and Kael Shalin Shah of Denison or No. 7 Ruilin Feng and Ajay Kartik of Emory, in the national doubles championship final on Tuesday, May 26.
