GREENWOOD, Ind. – Kaya De Bruijn of the No. 16 nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus College women's tennis team has been named a 2026 Women's Tennis Academic All-American. Selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC) and announced on Tuesday, the award is reserved for college student athletes who perform at an elite level in their chosen sport and in the classroom.
De Bruijn was named to the Academic All-America Third Team for Division III. The senior is an Environmental Studies and Geology double major with a 4.00 GPA. This year, De Bruijn was 22-6 overall in singles, going 18-3 in duals at #2 singles and undefeated in the MIAC at 9-0 in #2 singles. In doubles, De Bruijn ended the year 25-5 with a 6-3 record in tournaments and a 19-2 record at #1 doubles, going 8-1 in the MIAC at the same spot.
This is the second CSC Academic All-American award for De Bruijn, who won the award last year as well. In addition to this award, the senior has also earned ITA All-American honors as well as MIAC All-Playoff and All-Conference recognition this year.
CSC, formerly known as CoSIDA, began the distinguished Academic All-America program in 1952. It is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all NCAA levels, the NAIA, two-year colleges, and Canadian institutions.
Gustavus women's tennis finished their team competition this season with a 30-6 overall record. In the MIAC, Gustavus went undefeated through all 10 matches to win their second consecutive and 32nd overall regular season championship. In the postseason, a pair of 4-0 wins over Bethel and Carleton secured their second in a row and 10th all-time MIAC Playoff title for the Gusties. Gustavus then hosted an NCAA Regional for the national tournament, defeating No. 28 UW-La Crosse 4-0 in the second round to advance to the Sweet 16.
