SAINT PETER, Minn. - The Gustavus track & field program kicked off its 2024 schedule Saturday by hosting the Black and Gold Showcase in the Lund Forum. The small meet included the Gusties and Martin Luther College with a smattering of alumni and unattached runners.Â
"Our team really enjoyed the opportunity to compete at home for the indoor season," Head Coach
Aaron Lund said. "It was great to see so many parents, families, friends and alumni here today, too. The energy was high and the team performed really well. This was a great way to get back into the rhythm of competing. Our team has been working hard in practices and we are very excited to put down some big time performances in the weeks ahead."
On the men's side,
Jackson Jerdee won the 55-meter with a meet record time of 6.69.
Mark Rud took first in the 800-meter with a meet record 2:02.85.
Isaiah Subah won the long jump with a meet record distance of 21-0.5. Another meet record was set in the pole vault as
Logan Marzinske took first, clearing a height of 13-5.25.Â
For the women,
Isabel Fynboh won the 400-meter with a meet record time of 1:07.31.
Sydney Hagen won the 800-meter, clocking a meet record time of 2:37.39. Hagen also set a meet record in the mile, winning the race in 5:31.50. In the field,
Ally Rakow took first in the high jump, clearing a meet record height of 5-1.
Megan Geraets won the long jump, setting a meet record distance of 17-2.75.
Camille Finney won the pole vault, also setting a meet record height of 9-2.5.
Madi Kes posted a mark of 37-8.75 to win the triple jump with yet another meet record, and
Kelley Brennan won the weight throw with a meet record distance of 44-3.5.Â
Gustavus competes next Saturday at the Macalester Vanessa Seljeskog Classic.Â
