5/14/2026 2:00:00 PM

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - 15 members of the Men's Track & Field team earned conference recognition on Thursday, officially recognizing their performances at the MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

15 different individuals earned recognition, including 10 of which earned All-Conference honors. In addition, only one honoree of the 15 is a senior for the Gusties. Juniors Jade Anstine (Sioux Falls, Minn.) and Nick Brauer (Mankato, Minn.) led the contributions, each garnering two All-Conference honors and one Honorable Mention honor.

Anstine's All-Conference honors came in the 100-meter, where he ran a time of 10.55 in the finals, along with the anchor leg of the 4x100-meter relay, joined by junior Tyler Heil (Appleton, Wis.) and sophomore classmates Frank Terway (Brownton, Minn.) and Conner Martens (Nicollet, Minn.). Brauer contributed in the 1500-meter by finishing third with a 3:53.62 and had his shining moment as the anchor in the 4x400-meter that chased down both the Bethel and St. Olaf squads to win the event and earn 10 crucial points to move the Gusties up to 10th.

Sophomore Kyler Flunker (Mankato, Minn.) won the high jump to earn All-Conference honors, crossing 1.94 meters along with two other jumpers, but broke the tie by not dropping the bar a single time throughout the conference meet. First-year Logan Day (Wayzata, Minn.) earned his first All-Conference honor in the javelin, heaving a 54.14 meter mark for third place in the field as well. The aforementioned 4x400-meter was the last single event to earn All-Conference, compiled of senior Cohen Stursa (Medford, Minn.), Martens, and first-year Luke Scheel (Mankato, Minn.) who ran a 3:18.76, the new Division III No. 60 mark.

Senior Connor McCormick (Stillwater, Minn.) scored the first eight points of the conference meet for the Gusties, earning All-Conference recognition with a second place finish in the decathlon by scoring 6519 points. The performance by the senior was a school record and included six personal bests across the 10 events, along with setting himself up to challenge for a spot at the national meet.

There were eight total Honorable Mention distinctions handed out as well, spanning across all disciplines and included the final five honorees, in addition to Anstine, Brauer, and McCormick. McCormick started with an Honorable Mention in the 100-meter hurdles, getting fourth with a time of 15.04. Anstine earned his third mark by getting sixth in the 200-meter with a 21.92 time as the only individual on the track. Junior Wyatt Hudspith (Esko, Minn.) also got sixth, this time in the field via the discus with a toss of 46.68 meters. One relay also earned the honors, with the group of two first-years Logan Jandro (Minnetrista, Minn.) and Colin Talle (Mankato, Minn.) joining juniors Camden Cilek (Redwood Falls, Minn.) and Brauer running an 8:03.42 time in the 4x800-meter, good for sixth. The last Honorable Mention was first-year Amos Anderson (Mankato, Minn.), who used a 5940 in the decathlon to get fourth and earn his first accolade.

The 10 All-Conference members is the most since 2002, when the team had 11 members make the list across 16 honors. Gustavus finished fourth at the conference meet this year, which is their best performance since 2021, when they finished fourth with six All-Conference honors across five individuals.
