Track & Field Competes at St. Olaf Invitational and Multis

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Gustavus men's and women's track & field teams boasted a number of notable performances Friday and Saturday at the St. Olaf Invitational and Multi Events. 

Megan Geraets highlighted the day for the Gustie women, setting the school record in the 400-meter with a first-place time of 57.95, which ranks 10th in NCAA Division III this season. Geraets also won the 200-meter, clocking in at 25.41 for a facility record and now ranks eighth in Division III. Geraets wasn't done there as she took second place in the long jump with a distance of 17-2.25. 

Madi Kes also claimed an event victory for the Gusties, taking first in the triple jump with a leap of 36-4.25. Kes also took fourth in the long jump at 16-9.25. Other top finishers included Sarrah Lindner taking second in the triple jump at 34-6.25, Ally Rakow placing second in the high jump, clearing 5-0.25, Kate Carlson finishing second in the 200-meter at 26.11 and second in the 60-meter with a time of 7.97. Kailyn Walukas took third in the 1000-meter, crossing the line in 3:14.26, and Kelley Brennan took fifth place in the weight throw with a heave of 49-11.75. 

On the men's side, Connor McCormick became the first Gustie to win a multi-event competition in over 10 years after winning the heptathlon. McCormick took first in the 60-meter hurdles (8.70), first in the pole vault (13-3.5), third in the 60-meter (7.52), third in the 1000-meter (2:49.05), third in the long jump (19-6.25), fifth in the high jump (5-6), and 13th in the shot put (27-3.25). McCormick's heptathlon ranks 21st in Division III this season. 

Other notable performances for the Gustie men include Isaiah Subah winning the long jump with a leap of 22-3.75 and Tyler Smith taking first in the 1000-meter with a time of 2:32.35 (third in school history). Mark Rud took second in the 600-meter at 1:25.08, Nick Brauer finished second in the 1000-meter with a time of 2:36.01, while Cole Matetich and Danny Bies went two-three, respectively in the high jump with marks of 6-2.75 and 6-0.75. 

Gustavus is next in action Feb. 3 at the University of Minnesota Gopher Classic.
