SAINT PETER, Minn. - The Gustavus men's hockey team suffered a 2-0 loss against UW-Stout on Friday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink. The Gusties snap their four-game winning streak, dropping to 10-6 overall.
UW-Stout opened the scoring at the 7:51 mark of the first period and maintained the one-goal lead at the first intermission, despite the Gusties out-shooting the visitors 10-5. The Blue Devils then went up 2-0 on a short-handed goal at the 2:48 mark of the second. The Gusties continued to put more shots on goal with a 17-7 advantage after 40 minutes, but could not find the back of the net.
It was more of the same in the third period for the Gusties as they finished the game out-shooting the Blue Devils 21-12, but couldn't finish any scoring chances in their first shutout loss of the season. Neither team was successful on the power play as the Gusties went 0-for-5 and the Blue Devils went 0-for-4.
Colin Androlewicz suffered the loss after making 10 saves in 57 minutes of work.
Gustavus looks to rebound tomorrow evening against Northland in its final non-conference game of the season.
