EDINA, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College women's golf team competed in the three-round MIAC Championship this weekend at the Braemar Golf Course. The Gusties stood in sixth place after an opening round of +48 on Saturday, moved up to fifth after shooting +22 on Sunday, and ultimately tied for fourth out of the field of 10 conference teams with a round of +28 on Monday to finish at +98 for the tournament.
"I feel really good about the weekend," said Gustavus head coach
Scott Moe. "We came in with the fifth-lowest average in the conference and came away tied for fourth. We had some great stretches and some super positive outcomes from the weekend. Our conference is super talented; to compete with them, close to finishing in third, showed how hard we battled."
Addison Longie led the Gusties at the championship, shooting +24 through the three days to finish tied for 12
th overall out of the field of 48 golfers.
Lauren Hubbart followed in 14
th overall, shooting +26 in the championship.
Emily Kolb and
Riley Zebroski both shot +27 through the three rounds to tie for 15
th overall.
Teckla Wahlstrand placed 25
th overall with a score of +32.
"We shot lower than our average the last two days in the conference championship," said Moe. "Very pleased with the outcome. Now we look forward to our final event of the year the golf week championship in Florida battling against 20 of the top teams in the country."
Up next for Gustavus is the three-round Golfweek Invitational starting Sunday, October 12 and finishing Tuesday, October 14.
