WATERVILLE, Maine. – The Gustavus Adolphus College men's hockey team battled the No. 14 nationally ranked Bowdoin College Polar Bears on the east coast Saturday afternoon, falling 4-2.
The Gusties jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period with a pair of power-play goals.
Hunter Newhouse scored with 2:42 remaining in the opening frame to put Gustavus up 1-0.
Emil Samuelsson doubled the Gusties' lead with a goal in the final minute of the first period.
In the second period, Bowdoin rallied as the Polar Bears scored four goals to go up 4-2 heading in the final frame. Neither team scored in the third period as Bowdoin secured the win.
Up next for the Gusties their second of two games in Maine as they take on Colby College on Sunday, November 30 at 1:00 p.m.
