TUCSON, Ariz. - The Gustavus baseball team swept Rockford University on Saturday with a pair of one-run victories. The Gusties claimed game one 4-3 before a 3-2 walkoff win in game two, improving to 9-0 overall.

After two scoreless frames, the Gusties plated a pair of runs in the third. With the bases loaded,
Chris Knowles knocked home
Ross Hebel with a base hit and another run was scored on a double play.
The Regents tied the game in the fourth after a walk and two singles, but the Gusties got two runs back in the fifth for a 4-2 advantage. With the bases loaded,
Danny Gavin hit a sac fly to score
Sam Schneider, and
Brayden Kohls followed with an RBI groundout to score
Drake Siens.
Rockford made it a one-run game in the sixth, but
Jackson Thielen earned his first save of the season after tossing three innings, allowing just one hit with three strikeouts.
Luke Siegle earned the win after tossing four frames, allowing two runs on tow hits with four Ks.
Knowles led at the plate, going 3-for-4 with and RBI.
Brady Schmitz hit 2-for-3 witha stolen base.
Gustavus 3, Rockford 2
The Regents struck first with a run in the second inning and the game turned into a pitchers' duel through five frames. Rockford added a run in the sixth, but the Gusties broke their silence in the bottom half with a pair of runs to tie the game. Gavin hit a one-out single and scored on a triple by Kohls. Schmitz then hit a sac fly to tie it 2-2.
Sam Baker entered the game in the seventh and kept it a tie game with a pair of strikeouts. In the bottom half,
Daniel Dahl hit a one-out single and two batters later scored on a walk off hit by Siens.
Mitch Casperson started the game and pitched four quality innings, allowing one runs on three hits and three strikeouts.
Michael Prosch struck out the side in the fifth and
Hunter Sheehan pitched the sixth, allowing one run on one hit. Baker earned the win in relief.
Siens (2-4, RBI) and Kohls (2-3, R, RBI) led the team in a relatively quiet game at the plate.
Gustavus concludes play at the Tucson Invite tomorrow morning against Wesleyan College.
