Track & Field Delivers Strong Top Five Finishes in St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Gusties continued their indoor season with a trip to St. Paul for the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic, competing in a 15 team field that included several Division II programs. The women finished fourth overall, while the men placed fifth.

The meet opened up with a bang as Molly Liston shattered the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic 3000m meet record by 30 seconds, clocking 10:16.66. Her performance came just seven seconds shy of the school record.

Allison Stacy carried the momentum on the track with a third place finish in the 60m, posting a time of 8.04.

The women's 600m group delivered a strong showing with second, fourth, fifth, and sixth place finishes, led by Katja Wallin, who ran 1:44.36 for second.

In the field events, Kaylee Hawks paced the women in the high jump with a fourth place finish after clearing 1.50m. Camille Finney matched that placing in the pole vault with a jump of 3.20m. Yonna Harris led the throwers with a mark of 11.88m in the shot put, good for fifth place.

The women's triple jump group dominated the competition by taking first, second, and fourth. Ava Loftness led the way with a winning jump of 10.93m, followed closely by Hawks at 10.89m and Sophia Vogel at 10.68m. All three marks rank among the top 100 jumps in Division III this season.

On the men's side, Will Janzen got things started with a fourth place finish in the 3000m, running 9:05.44. Luke Scheel followed with a collegiate lifetime best of 51.71 in the 400m to place fifth. Nicholas Brauer led the Gusties in the mile, finishing fourth with a time of 4:22.50.

In the field, Kyler Flunker continued his standout season by clearing a personal record of 1.95m in the high jump, a mark that currently ranks first in the MIAC. Alex Palmer added a fifth place finish in the pole vault with a jump of 4.05m, while Liam Frommelt led the triple jumpers by placing fifth at 13.11m.

The meet concluded with a large showing in the 4x400m relays, as 32 Gusties from nearly every event group took part. On the men's side, the top Gustavus relay of Nicholas Brauer, Tyler Heil, Connor McCormick, and Joe Ream posted the fastest time among Gustie entries at 3:34.63. For the women, the leading Gustie quartet of Isabel Fynboh, Allison Stacy, Lauren Rocheford, and McKenzie Luetmer crossed the line in 4:15.69.

The Gusties continue their 2026 indoor campaign next weekend for a two day meet in Northfield at the St. Olaf Invitational.
