EDINA, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College women's golf team is competing in the MIAC Championship this weekend at the Braemar Golf Course in Edina. The Gusties stood in fourth place after the opening round on Friday but moved up to third out of the field of nine conference teams on Saturday. Gustavus shot +20 as a team in the second round to bring their two-day score to +40.
"After yesterday's round, we talked about a few of the holes out there that were giving us difficulty in the second half of our round," said Gustavus head coach
Scott Moe. "Super proud that we finished the last six holes even par as a team, that was an awesome finish and kudos to the gals for grinding that one out today."
St. Catherine leads the championship leaderboard after the second round with a team score of +9. Macalester follows as the standing runner-up at +33, just seven strokes ahead of the Gusties. Carleton fell behind Gustavus after shooting +31 on Saturday to stand in fourth at +50. Bethel rounds out the top five teams heading into the final round with a score of +54.
Addison Longie led the Gusties for the second day in a row, following up her +1 opening round with a -1 in round two. The sophomore is shooting even through the two rounds and stands in third place overall out of the field of 48 golfers. Longie is two strokes behind the standing runner-up Anna Lee (-2) of Carleton and eight strokes back of the standing medalist Caylin Cantwell (-8) of St. Kate's heading into the final round on Sunday.
Riley Zebroski shot +5 for the second-best score of the day for the Gusties, moving up to 18
th overall with a two-round score of +12.
Annika Johnson had the third-best score of the day for Gustavus, shooting +6 to move up 11 places in the individual standings into a tie for 21
st overall at +16 through day two.
Karina Johnson shot +10 for the fourth and final counted Gustie score of the day, moving to 19
th place at +14 through two rounds.
Teckla Wahlstrand had a round of +12 to move into a tie for 21
st overall with an total score of +20.
"Tough conditions today with the wind, but we battled hard," said Moe. "Another great showing by Addy and two huge rounds by Riley and Annika. We put ourselves in a good position tomorrow and looking forward to the final day of the championship."
Up next for the Gusties is the third and final round of the 2026 MIAC Women's Golf Championship on Sunday, October 4. The round begins at 10:00 a.m. with the first Gustavus tee time set for 11:40 a.m. and the final Gustie group set for a 12:20 p.m. start.
