WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Gustavus Adolphus College women's golf team competed out on the east coast this weekend in the Williams Fall Invitational at Taconic Country Club. The Gusties shot +61 on the first day of the tournament on Saturday and finished the invite with a round of +52 on Sunday, finishing in 13
th place out the field of 15 competing teams with a total score of +113.
Middlebury won the invite with a two-day team score of +30. Willaims and Amherst rounded out the top three with scores of +31 and +43, respectively.
Karina Johnson led the Gusties at the invite, shooting +24 to tie for 47
th overall out of the field of 74 golfers. The first year shot +13 in the first round and then shot +11 in the final round.
Teckla Wahlstrand followed with the second-best finish for Gustavus, shooting +26 to tie for 53
rd overall. The sophomore had a score of +10 on Saturday and then +16 on Sunday.
Riley Zebroski shot +31 through the two-round tournament to place 60
th overall, shooting +18 in the opening round and then improving to +13 on the final 18.
Addison Longie had the fourth score for the Gusties, shooting +32 with a rounds of +20 and then +12 to tie for 61
st overall.
Sarah Gutuza shot +36 to place 66
th overall, scoring +20 on Saturday and then +16 on Sunday.
Up next for the Gusties is the MIAC Women's Golf Championship this upcoming weekend at the Braemar Golf Course in Edina. The three-day tournament begins on Friday, October 2 and closes on Sunday, October 4.
