5/8/2026 9:50:00 PM

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Gustavus men's track team got the MIAC Championships started with multiple qualifications for finals and personal bests to finish the season.

The first event on the track was the 1500-meter, where junior Nick Brauer (Mankato, Minn.) placed third and scored the first six points of the day with a 3:53.62. The next event for the men was the 110-meter hurdles, where senior Connor McCormick (Stillwater, Minn.) ran a 15.01, only 0.5 seconds behind first place and qualified for the final tomorrow. After two personal records in the 400-meter, junior Jade Anstine (Sioux Falls, S.D.) ran the No. 19 time in the country this season, a 10.49, which earned him the top seed in the final tomorrow. Both McCormick and sophomore Eric Richards (Mankato, Minn.) qualified in the 400-meter hurdles, using personal best times to grab the fourth and seventh seed. Anstine struck again in the 200-meter, winning his head by a wide margin at 21.40, the new Division III No. 36. The 800-meter relay took sixth to earn three points, rounding out the scoring on the track for the day.

In the field, junior Wyatt Hudspith (Esko, Minn.) threw a personal-best 46.68 meters in the discus, which ranks as the new Division III No. 86 and earned the Gusties three points. First-year Logan Day (Wayzata, Minn.) scored more for Gustavus, getting third and earning a spot on the podium with a 54.14 meter mark. Both sophomore Liam Frommelt (Woodbury, Minn.) and first-year Amos Anderson (Mankato, Minn.) earned three extra jumps in the long jump on Friday as well to end the field events, getting eighth and ninth.

The action will begin tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. when the men's high jump and shot put start before the track events begin at 1:40 p.m. with the 4x100-meter relay.
