LAS VEGAS, Nev. — The Gustavus Adolphus Sports Information Office wrapped up the 2023-24 season celebrating the creative work of the academic year at the annual
College Sports Communications (formerly CoSIDA) Convention in Las Vegas earlier this month. Gustavus was honored as one of 13 schools with more than 10 awards as a part of the CSC's
Creative & Digital Design Contest, receiving 11 total to lead all NCAA Division III institutions.
Embry-Riddle (Fla.) led all participating schools with 34 total places earned followed by Grace (Ind.) with 29, Oklahoma with 23 and Air Force with an even 20. Gustavus and additional eight schools also earned double-digit accolades as Washburn (18), Indian Hills Community College (15), MSU-Moorhead (14), Eckerd (14), Slippery Rock (13), The Lovett School (11), Buena Vista (10) and Carson-Newman (10) were consistently ranked near the top in several categories.
Assistant Sports Information Director
Jordan Modjeski was recognized for a variety of photography, videography, and graphic design projects from the 2023-24 academic year. Modjeski had a total of six pieces recognized, receiving 11 awards total.
In the photography category, a still shot of men's golfer
Chris Gutuza teeing off in the rain was awarded as one of five Division III
photos of the year and one of 15 photos of the year for the College Division, which includes all NCAA Division II, Division III, NAIA, and JUCO athletic programs. Modjeski's
fundraising video for the golf teams'
"Give Like a Champion" fundraising campaign was also recognized in the short form videos/reels category, earning Best of Division III distinction.
A total of four
@GustieAthletics graphics received recognition, two game day and two non-game day, earning Best in Division III and Best in College Division for all four. A
Hill Crew graphic featuring football player
Nathan Le prior to the team's game against Carleton and a
women's hockey game day post featuring
Lily Mortenson were both recognized in the game day graphic category. In the non-game day category, a
graphic made for men's tennis player Caleb Fridinger and the
men's soccer team's United Soccer Coaches preseason national ranking were both honored.
This is the second consecutive year Gustavus has earned CSC recognition in the Creative & Digital Design Contest, as Modjeski's 2022-23 portfolio was deemed
second-best in the College Division, and her spring game day graphics for the Gustavus softball team, created with sports information intern
Kate Murray '23, were named second-best among DII and DIII schools. The 11 awards this season bring Gustavus Sports Information to a total of 15 national honors received from CSC over the years. View the full awards history
