Composed in big games with a fun-filled attitude, Brianna Monahan Krause was the complete player for Gustavus women’s basketball in the mid-2000s. Monahan Krause graduated as the program’s all-time career scoring leader with 1,466 points and was a three-time All-Conference selection.
A true team player with a competitive drive, Monahan Krause played in 103 career games and started for three seasons. Her junior campaign made a statement in her Hall of Fame career as she scored a program record 495 points, averaging nearly 20 points and seven rebounds per game. The Hutchinson, Minn. native earned First Team All-West Region honors and was an All-America honorable mention selection.
Having the ability to shoot from anywhere on the court with great ball handling skills, Monahan Krause culminated her collegiate career by leading the Gusties to a 22-6 record during the 2006-07 season with an appearance in the national tournament. Gustavus always had a winning record with Monahan Kruase on the team, including three seasons of finishing in the top-three in the MIAC. Monahan Krause was a finalist for the Jostens Division III Player of the Year award her senior season and currently ranks in the program’s top-10 in 16 different statistical categories. She was also Gustavus’s first prospect in the WNBA draft.
After graduating cum laude in 2007 with majors in art history and business management, Monahan Krause earned her teaching license and master’s degree in elementary education from St. Scholastica. She has coached basketball and volleyball at various levels and has been teaching third grade at Tiger Elementary in Hutchinson for the past 10 years. Bri currently lives in Hutchinson with her husband Dan and their three daughters, Oaklyn, Myla, and Berkley.
