An intimidating figure on the ice with an all-business approach to the game, Laura Stypulkowski Kramer played a key role in the early years of the Gustavus women’s hockey dynasty.

Kramer, who often got in the heads of opposing players, proved to be as durable as they come, playing in 114 games throughout her collegiate career, recording 53 goals and 82 assists for 135 points. At the time of graduation, Kramer held the program record for career assists, ranked second in career points, and fourth in career goals. She currently ranks second in career assists and is tied for third in program history with four career hat tricks.

A gritty skater who earned the respect of her teammates, Kramer was named MIAC All-Conference her junior and senior seasons, while earning All-American honors in 2005. Kramer helped the Gusties capture MIAC championships and finish third at the NCAA Championships in 2002 and 2005. During her career, the Gusties went 84-24-7 overall and 62-7-4 in the MIAC.

After graduating in 2005 with a major in exercise science, Kramer earned her doctorate of physical therapy from Mayo School of Health Sciences in 2008 and became a board-certified orthopedic clinical specialist in 2017. Kramer is currently employed by Health Partners as an operations manager and works for Summit Orthopedics as a physical therapist. Laura and her husband Kent ’05 live in Lino Lakes, Minn. with their children, Stella, Ruby, Sam, and Leo, and a Boxer puppy.
