A passionate and feisty forward, Molly Doyle Thompson helped solidify Gustavus women’s hockey as a dynasty in the MIAC during the mid-2000s.

Having a knack for scoring goals, Thompson made an immediate impression her first year by scoring 45 points to earn MIAC All-Rookie Team honors, and is now the namesake of the team’s Rookie of the Year award. Thompson went on to earn All-Conference honors all four years and was an All-American for the 2005-06 season. Thompson is one of six players in program history to be a four-time All-Conference selection.

Thompson finished her career fifth on the program’s all-time scoring list with 135 points. Her 68 career goals currently rank fourth in program history while her 63 career assists rank 10th. Playing in 103 games, Thompson had a +65 rating with 19 power play goals and 12 game-winning goals. The Gusties won the MIAC championship all four years with Thompson on the team, boasting a 69-2-1 record in the conference and a 97-15-3 mark overall. Thompson helped the Gusties reach the NCAA tournament all four years, highlighted by a third place finish in 2005.

After graduating in 2008 with a major in English, Thompson spent a brief time in community service and foundation work at Blue Cross Blue Shield before transitioning to education. Thompson worked as a paraprofessional at Seven Hills Classical Academy before moving full time into teaching English and language arts classes. Thompson is currently the middle school grammar teacher at Seven Hills. Molly and her husband Jordan live in Savage, Minn. with their daughter, Scarlet, and Irish Terrier, Groot.
