Jim Miller

One of the most intense and aggressive players in Gustavus hockey history, Jim Miller brought his powerful shot and forceful checking to St. Peter from Rainey River Junior College in 1970. An explosive scorer, Miller tallied 39 goals in 39 games in his two-year playing career and ranks third in school history in career points per game at 1.82 (39 goals, 33 assists - 72 points).
A two-time all-conference and All-America selection, Miller helped the Gusties win two MIAC titles and make two NAIA National Tournament appearances, finishing fourth in 1971 and second in 1972. The Gusties compiled a mark of 31-11 overall and 25-3 in MIAC play during Miller's career.
After graduating with a major in physical education, Miller went on to play professional hockey in the Western International Hockey League from 1973 until 1980. He then started working in the construction business operating heavy duty equipment. He is currently a welder with Crestbrook Forest Industries in Cranbrook, British Columbia. Jim lives in Cranbrook with his wife, Sophie. They have one son, Dean.
