Sure handed and strong to the ball, Chad Arlt is one of the greatest wide receivers to have ever donned the winged helmet. Arlt graduated as the program’s all-time leader in career receiving yards (3,180) and still owns the record for career receptions (222).

A reliable player who prepared intensely for each game, Arlt graduated with four single season program records and still owns the record for receiving yards in a game after going for 252 yards against Augsburg in 2007, which currently ranks eighth in MIAC history. During that game, Arlt was on the receiving end of a 99-yard touchdown pass. Arlt became the first and only receiver in conference history to repeat that accomplishment as he again recorded a 99-yard touchdown reception against St. Thomas in 2008.

The St. Michael, Minn. native earned All-Conference honors his junior and senior year, while garnering All-Region accolades in 2006. The 2007 season for Arlt was one of the most remarkable performances by a receiver as he hauled in 100 catches for 1,294 yards and 11 touchdowns, setting the program record for single season receptions and yards. After playing in 33 career games, Arlt scored 22 touchdowns and averaged 96.4 yards per game.

Arlt’s speed and agility transitioned well to the track as he also competed on the track & field team for two seasons, earning All-Conference honors in both the 4x100 relay and the javelin.

Arlt graduated from Gustavus in 2009 with a major in business management. Since 2011, Arlt has been the vice president of actuarial consulting at Optum. Chad lives in Chanhassen with his wife Karin and their three children, Ben, Maya, and Ava.
