In an era where Gustavus was dominating the Minnesota small college football scene with a punishing ground attack, offensive tackle Larry Baker was at the top of a long list of quality linemen. During Baker's career at Gustavus, the Gusties won four consecutive MIAC championships and compiled a 22-2 conference mark. Baker started every game in his collegiate career except one, which is believed to be a feat that has never been matched by any other Gustavus football player.
In the winter months, Baker took to the wrestling mat where he twice finished runner-up in the heavyweight division in the MIAC tournament.
Since graduating in 1956, Baker has been involved in the graphic arts field for 32 years. He has served as technical representative and branch manager with A.B. Dick, Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing and Flint Ink Corporation. Baker currently lives in Nisswa, and is a sales representative for Flink Ink in Northern Wisconsin, Northern Minnesota, and North Dakota. He and his wife Sharon (Wolff '59) have three children, Mary Ellen, Patrick, and Clinton.
