Hall of Fame
Quiet and unassuming, Trevor Wittwer let his performance on the court do the talking by leading the Gustavus men’s basketball team during the mid-2000s.
Â
Wittwer made an immediate impact his freshman year, claiming a spot on the MIAC First-Year Team, as the Gusties won the 2004-05 MIAC regular season championship and advanced to the national tournament. Mature beyond his age while holding high expectations of himself, Wittwer had one of the finest seasons by an individual during his sophomore year. The Redwood Falls, Minn. native set the program record for single season field goal percentage (68%) and single season three-point percentage (63.2%), and was honored as the 2005-06 MIAC Sixth Man of the Year.
Â
Wittwer then started every game his junior and senior seasons, earning All-Conference honors both years, and was named a finalist for the 2008 Josten’s Division III Player of the Year. Embodying the true essence of a Division III student-athlete, Wittwer was selected as a CoSIDA Academic All-American and received the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship his senior year.
Â
A skilled athlete with unmatched preparation, Wittwer ranks in the program’s top-five in career field goal percentage (59.2%), career three-point percentage (45.5%), and career steals (128). His 97 career blocks rank sixth in program history, while his 1,172 career points are 23rd most in the 120-year history of Gustavus men’s basketball.
Â
After graduating summa cum laude in 2008 with a major in health fitness, Wittwer played professional basketball in Germany for three years. Wittwer then founded Functional Fitness in 2012, where he currently serves as the owner and director. He is also the co-founder and CEO of Coach Catalyst - SAAS Software. Trevor lives in Redwood Falls with his wife Erin (Boese) ’07 and their children, Asher and Ezra.
