David Martinson

Martinson is a two-time All-American and three-time MIAC All-Conference honoree for the men’s hockey team. In his senior season, he was the ACHA National Player of the Year, the MIAC Player of the Year, led all of NCAA Division III with 1.04 goals per game, and led the conference in scoring with 23 goals and 13 assists for 36 points. In his junior year, he was the captain of the 2008-09 Gusties team that was the national runner-up at the NCAA Division III Championship. Martinson played in 85 games in his career, scoring 76 goals, recording 54 assists, and totalling 130 points.

After graduating magna cum laude with a major in Accounting in 2010, Martinson worked as an accountant for Cargill for one year before pursuing a coaching career. He served as a graduate assistant at Bowling Green State University before accepting an assistant coaching position with the Gustavus men’s team from 2012 to 2015. Martinson then moved into the insurance industry, where he currently serves as the AVP and Regional Manager for Gray Surety. David lives in Woodbury with his wife, Jessica, and their children, Gardner, Graham, and Georgia.
