Kieth W. Skogman '49 lettered four years in both football and hockey, and two years in track. He played guard on the football team and is the only Gustavus graduate to be named All-Conference for four consecutive years. He and classmate Harold Swanson were co-captains of the teams in 1947 and 1948 and both of them were selected as members of the 1948 college All-Star team which played in the Clipper International Bowl in Gilmore Stadium, Los Angeles, Calif. (The U.S. team played against teams from Hawaii, Canada, and Mexico.) Kieth was noted by line coach Tuddie Lindenberg as one of the greatest pulling guards in Gustavus history. He was also a stalwart defenseman in hockey and ran the two mile in track.
He received his M.A. from State Univ. of Iowa and Ed.D. from Univ. of Nebraska. He taught phy. ed. and coached football at Dana College (1959-54) and Nebraska Wesleyan (1954-60). From 1960-66 he was chairman of the Dept. of Phy. Ed. & Health at Dana College. In 1960 he joined the staff of Texas Lutheran College where he served as chairman of the Dept. of Phy. Ed. & Health and also as Athletic Director. He is presently Professor of Physical Education and Health.
Kieth and his wife Carol have three sons, Douglas, Darrell, and Thomas, and live in Seguin, Texas.
