Molly Biehn Becker propelled the Gustavus softball team to new heights throughout her four seasons as a dominant pitcher, skilled first baseman, and powerful left-handed hitter. An intense and intimidating player on the diamond, Biehn Becker earned All-America honorable mention, All-Region First Team, and was the MIAC Player of the Year in 2003. She was a key cog in Gustavus winning the 2003 MIAC championship and advancing to the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history, where she was selected to the Midwest Region All-Tournament Team. The Mankato, Minn., native was also named the 2002-03 Gustavus Female Athlete of the Year and to the Verizon Academic All-District First Team.
A three-time All-Conference performer, Biehn Becker graduated with the most career pitching starts (66) and innings pitched (440.2) in program history. She also threw Gustavus’s first perfect game and has the fourth-most pitching wins (41) in program history. In 143 career games, Biehn Becker batted .313 with 130 hits, 31 doubles, 14 home runs, 101 RBI, and boasted a fielding percentage of .977.
Since graduating magna cum laude in 2004 with a degree in nursing, Biehn Becker has been a registered nurse in the neurology unit at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minn. She was the recipient of the 2015 Ruth Berglund Nurse of Excellence Award at Park Nicollet. Molly and her husband Brian live in Rosemount, Minn.
